How I spent my winter vacation

I hadn't taken any time off of work in a couple of years, so I decided to take off the last week of December. I spent the entire time playing video games, watching DVDs, surfing the web, and staying up all night. I left my house exactly three times during my entire vacation. Here is a helpful chart:

Dec 22: Last day at work.
Dec 23: Went to Liz and John's to play Polaris.
Dec 24: Went to get some Indian takeout.
Dec 25: NONE
Dec 26: NONE
Dec 27: NONE
Dec 28: Went to Safeway.
Dec 29: NONE
Dec 30: NONE
Dec 31: NONE
Jan 01: NONE
Jan 02: NONE
Jan 03: First day back at work.

At least the Indian food was good -- tandoori lobster!

Wow. I've occaisionally done a few days, but that's longer than I've done. Then again, I often leave my vacations (particularly family vacations) feeling like I need a vacation. :-)

What DVDs did you see? I was going to blog a book and film report soon.

I watched many sci-fi TV series. Episode after episode after episode. I got into this weird groove where I could split my attention between the show and browsing the web, and I did that for hours on end.

As for the specific shows, I'm almost embarrassed to name some of them. The problem is that a "one hour" show, once you remove the commercials, is about 42 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time for a workout. Thus, I purchased many TV shows with the intention of watching one episode per exercise session (to keep me distracted). Unfortunately, that system finally broke down, and I broke my cardinal rule -- I watched all the shows while sitting on the couch instead of while running on the treadmill.

Thus, I got to see (among others) Stargate Atlantis, Roswell, The X Files, Alias, Smallville, Earth Two, and Seaquest. And in the non-scifi category, I watched both seasons of "The L Word", and two excellent crime shows: The Wire, and Spooks.
